Greetings and Happy March, everyone!
With any luck, spring will be here soon!
Have you noticed that my blog posts have all been concentrated in the music area over the past weeks? There are a couple of good reasons for this. First of all, I have a lot of great live concert video snippets that I haven't shared, and I decided to stop hoarding them and let everyone take a peek. I don't know about you, but I'm always wondering if the recordings I hear reflect a truly talented singer or band, or if things have been fixed up beyond recognition. I can catch most auto-tuned voices, but sometimes I wonder if the artist is using an electronic effect, or if s/he just can't sing. The way to figure this out is to go to a live performance, of course. So I do check out people's off-the-cuff videos online before I decide whether to shell out $30-80 on a ticket to a performance. By and large, I've been super pleased with the concerts we've been to this year! Troye Sivan, Panic! at the Disco, and Dua Lipa all have great vocals.
My second reason is that I got “stuck” reading a book all through the late summer, fall, and winter, that wasn't very good. It was a book I felt I “should” read for various reasons, and there were elements that I did enjoy, but in the grand scheme of things, it wasn't a good book. So last night I took a look at my progress on my e-reader and saw that after months of effort, I had reached 47%. Result: I deleted it.
So my wisdom of the week is if you're slogging through a book (and it isn't by Melville or Joyce), get rid of it. Don't feel bad…it's getting in the way of other books that need to be read!
On that happy note, I'll be back listing my current reads as soon as I'm back into my usual stack of books!
Next week I'll be announcing a fun update on my novel-in-progress!
Have a wonderful first week of March!
