Hi everyone!
It looks like the groundhog has predicted another six weeks of winter, boo/hiss. I can't help but think that mid-year exams are perfectly timed for short, dark, cold days. Who wants to be studying when it's nice out? But since we're stuck indoors right now anyway, let's eat chocolate.
I missed an update in January, oops. I was overwhelmed by the holidays, swim meets, college kids at home, and helping my resident high schoolers prep for mid-year exams. How's the studying going for the students out there? It's so easy to feel completely sick of school at this time of year. Hang in there and keep fighting the good fight. I think people often forget that your grade at the end of the year isn't just about the content you learned…it's also about the fact that you continued to show up, day after dreary day. Back in kindergarten, teachers used to grade students on “attitude,” “conscientiousness,” “plays well with others.” It's a bit ironic that those are probably the only things that really matter. If you want to know who was president in 1899, you can always look that up. But showing up every day for something that isn't fun–that's something that takes practice, something that will come in handy time and time again. Think of it as training for a sport, and give yourself a ton of credit just for showing up.
Okay, done with the motivational stuff now. Back to our regular programming! There's a whole bunch of Troye Sivan live concert videos under the “music” link, and I'll be posting some Panic! at the Disco videos soon!
The writing is going well…about a third of the way through a massive rewrite…I need to say again, MASSIVE…and I'll share more when I'm done!
