I'm dithering around this post because there is so much I can say about the girl band MUNA that I don't even know where to start. I'm going to stick with saying as little as possible and letting y'all just listen to the music and figure it out, which of course is the best way to enjoy music–without someone else interpreting for you. I am loving their self-described “dark pop” sound.
Here's the music video for their song Winterbreak:
I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to singing. As much as I respect fantastic songwriters and producers, I cringe when the vocals aren't up to the job. And as much as I love live music and concede that this is where the “magic” happens, I really don't want to go to a performance and hear borderline vocals. I'm just a teeny tiny bit of a snob that way, as I think I'm pretty forgiving about what level of ability is “good enough.” So I'm really delighted that these ladies from USC are GOOD in a live setting. Here they are in a Spotify Live Session:
I've saved the best for last! I love how remixes are a “thing.” After enjoying the silvery, magical world that MUNA brings to us, let Dutch DJ Tiesto take it one step further! This is some of the best driving music anywhere. Here's the YouTube link so that you get the entire song:
