I'm having loads of fun playing on Wattpad!
I'm trying to hit the deadline for the 2016 Wattys so right now I'm buried deep in writing and not coming up for air…much. The deadline to enter is August 31, 2016, so I promise to be back to normal in September!
Meanwhile, I've just uploaded the prologue to a fun little thing called Fly!
Fly! is a riff off the popular Japanese animated series Free!, which was released a couple of years ago and involved a bunch of cute swimmer guys having fun and exploring the meaning of friendship and all that good stuff. I live with a bunch of competitive swimmers (definitely excluding me, though!) so I sat down one day and thought it would be fun to write an all-girl version of Free! Swim drama with guys is not like swim drama with girls, and I thought the girl story was a necessary addendum to the Free! fandom out there. I have a background in Japan, Japanese, and things Japanese, so I also thought it would be fun to explore and put out into the world.
I'll be publishing sections of Fly! here on my website at the same time as my uploads on Wattpad, and if you sign up for my newsletter below, you'll get the chapters delivered right to your inbox! If you'd rather look me up on Wattpad, there is a super-duper app that works beautifully on your phone or ipad. Lots of people use the app to write directly, bypassing the computer entirely. Just think, you could be writing War and Peace during your carpool or on the bus! Anyway, I'm studiomaya on Wattpad if you'd like to read Fly! that way!
