I finally hit “publish” on another segment of backstory for my suspense novel, Deep State.
This segment caused me a lot of anxiety, which is why I didn't put it out there much sooner. I wrote it a long time ago and in my back-and-forth with my editor, it was clear to me that it needed something else, but I didn't know what.
So I thought I would just restructure it a bit, but I couldn't figure out how to give it what it needed. In the end, I decided to just put it out there. It's meant to illuminate a corner of John's personality and past for you, so being a perfectionist about how well-written it is doesn't really help you, does it. Here it is, and of course, on Wattpad.
